UCanDoIT to offer ITQ Unit in Screen Readers

UCanDoIT have been given approval by the British Computer Society (BCS) to offer students on our Transition to Work project an ITQ unit on screen readers. ITQ is the NVQ for IT users. It consists of a series of units that can be personalised. This new unit, for blind and visually impaired learners, will be offered at both Level 1 and 2. This means that learners who use software such as Jaws or Supernova to access programmes on their computers can now include their knowledge as part of the qualification. A spokesperson said "We have many visually impaired students who rely on screen reading software to use their computers and felt it was only fair that this knowledge was recognised.
